Set & Costumes

"Fantastic set. The design really captured the essence of the play and gave us the mood and location perfectly. You got the sense of heat and the barren landscape. The steel scaffold structure was very useful and enabled the actors to play on several levels (a really important element in the piece such as this). It gave height and served as the entrance to the tomb as well as the high point that Ross hurled himself from. The tunnel entrance was an interesting idea and enabled the actors to emerge from the 'depths' of the tomb.

The props were superb and would befit any professional production. They encapsulated the descriptions perfectly and really aided the overall style of the production. The model of the tomb was particularly impressive. The trunks and cases housing the archers were terrific as were the models themselves.

Praise indeed for the costumes and makeup. I thought these elements were excellent. The whole company was kitted out magnificently. The Emperor and his subjects were suitably courtly and the young archaeologists perfectly dressed for the dig. When the chorus emerged it was particularly impressive to see the mass of similarly clad beings. The make up is worth a special mention as the muddy, flaky and ashen look of 'the dead' was superb. They were the grey characters from another world."
